Tom Fleming Speaking at Aveiro Culture Days
Tom Fleming will play an active role in the Culture Days Programme for Aveiro, Candidate City for European Capital of Culture (ECOC) 2027. Aveiro is evidencing its credentials as a city capable of producing a rich and engaging ECOC Programme by simultaneously staging a set of symposia, workshops, events and festivals over a 7 day period. This includes Aveiro Tech Week, the Criatech Festival, Prisma Festival of Light, and a programme of performances and residences from Brazilian creatives from Recife via a partnership with Porto Digital. It also includes a landmark conference on the European Bauhaus – European Bauhaus Goes South – for which Tom Fleming will provide a keynote address.
Plus, Aveiro will host the Culture Next symposium and network meeting, with ECOC candidate cities and title-winners old and new coming together to explore long-term cultural legacy opportunities. Tom is an adviser to Aveiro 2027, supporting the city’s creative and cultural industries to develop and flourish, as well as advising on the city’s wider cultural strategy.

Launch of Creative Moldova Programme and Strategy
Tom Fleming was back in Chisinau, Moldova, for the launch of the country's first national strategic programme for the Creative Industries. For the last 6 months, TFCC has been working with the Moldovan Government and Creative Industries Association to develop this programme. This has culminated in a series of workshops and events to launch the programme and explore next steps with partners.
Tom provided the keynote address for the lauch of Creative Moldova at the ARTCOR Creatie hub. He also delivered two additional presentations to the Moldovan Tourism Summit and to the MEDIACOR hub at the Moldovan State University.
The new Creative Moldova Programme showcases the talent, innovation and ambition of this small, open nation. It also sets out priorities for talent development, enterprise and export.

EU-GCC Dialogue on Economic Diversification: Culture and the Creative Industies in the Gulf Region
TFCC has been commissioned by the European Commission via GFA Consulting Group to undertake an extensive assessment of the approach to culture and the creative industries across GCC countries.
The EU-GCC Dialogue on Economic Diversification project has an overall objective to contribute to a stronger EU-GCC relationship by supporting the GCC countries’ ongoingprocess of economic diversification, away from hydrocarbon dependent sectors. The specific objective of the project is to promote climate-friendly trade, investment and economic affairsrelated policy analysis, dialogue and cooperation between stakeholders from EU and GCC at both regional and country levels in the context of the GCC economic diversification process.
Our research will provide an overview of the in the cultural and creative industries in four countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Oman) including sector performance and challenges, policies and regulatory frameworks. We will also identify areas where EU can assist the selected four GCC countries in achieving their national development goals related to Cultural and creative industries and outline opportunities for organisations and businesses to enter or expand into the selected GCC countries in this sector and identify local partners to develop activities in this area.

A Cultural Strategy for West Lindsey, Lincolnshire, UK
TFCC has been commissioned by West Lindsey District Council to develop the area's first cultural strategy. West Lindsey is a largely rural district in the East Midlands. The main town is Gainsborough, a historic inland port on the River Trent. Our work will involve a strategic review of current cultural assets, consultation to understand aspirations for the role of culture in the District, and a framework and action plan which positions culture as a foundation for socio-economic development, health and wellbeing.

Strategic Innovation Programme for Norwich University of the Arts, UK
TFCC has been commissioned by Norwich University of the Arts (NUA) to scope the rationale for two new Institutes:
- An institute for Creative Technology
- An Institute for arts and wellbeing, health and sustainable development.
TFCC will scope demand for such institutes, explore existing provision across the UK and internationally and set out a business case and model for new institutes. This builds from the refreshed Corporate Strategy for NUA, which includes a commitment to the role of creative practice in identifying, understanding and addressing the climate crisis and global challenges; and embedding ambitious local and international industry projects and experiences within all courses.
